Nina Aeberhard, half swiss half kiwi, born in Switzerland in 1986 and raised in Munich, studied Fine Arts at the University of Applied Sciences and Fine Arts in Braunschweig (Diplom Degree 2018) and considered Hannover home for a while. In 2021- 2023 she was part of the Weißenhof program as Meisterschülerin of Ricarda Roggan at Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design and then left for the mountains.
Nina Aeberhard is interested in contrasts, ruptures and the in-between in the interplay of motifs, media and material. In doing so, she gets close to ambivalences, such as the resistance of softness and the power of vulnerability. Thereby she mostly uses the medium of photography and uses it to approach different materialities. The haptic and sensual qualities of the motifs play just as much a role here as the references and shifts created by the photographic medium and in interaction with texts. Abstraction and reduction play an increasingly important role for her.
In 2014/15 she received the Germany Scholarship of the HBK Braunschweig. In 2022-23 she had a Scholarship at the Mathilde Planck Lectureship Program of the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. Her work was shown in Braunschweig, Hannover, Hildesheim, Esslingen and Munich.
Niki project:
During her time at Niki, she wants to immerse herself in the project »with a little help from my friends«. It is about the process of going away and coming back, holding on and letting go, as well as the ambivalences associated with this. She continues her experiments with glass and (photographic) drawing, building on her latest work »handle with care«.
